Meta Business Verification in India: A Step-by-Step Guide
Verification raises your WhatsApp messaging limits and builds customer trust. Here is exactly what Meta asks for, which documents work best for Indian businesses, and how long it takes.
Meta Business Verification confirms to Meta that your business is real. For WhatsApp, it is the step that unlocks higher daily messaging limits and opens the path to the green tick (Official Business Account).
You can start using the WhatsApp Business API before you are verified, but verifying early saves you from hitting limits just when your campaigns start working.
Why verification matters
- Higher messaging limits: unverified businesses can only start conversations with a limited number of new customers a day
- Trust: customers see your verified business name
- Eligibility for the green tick later on
What you need
- Your legal business name, exactly as it appears on your documents
- Your registered business address and phone number
- One official document that shows the legal name, for example:
- GST certificate (the fastest option for most Indian businesses)
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Udyam (MSME) registration
- Shop and Establishment certificate
- A business website or business email domain helps, and can be used to verify by domain
Step by step
- Open Meta Business Manager and go to Security Centre.
- Click Start verification.
- Enter your legal business name, address and phone number exactly as printed on your document.
- Upload your document as a clear PDF, JPG or PNG of the original. Screenshots and cropped photos are often rejected.
- Choose how Meta should confirm the details: by phone, email, SMS or domain.
- Submit and wait for Meta's decision.
How long does it take?
With a GST certificate whose details match exactly, verification often completes within hours to a couple of days. Domain-based verification usually takes three to five working days.
Common reasons for rejection
- The name on the form does not match the document exactly (watch out for "Pvt Ltd" vs "Private Limited")
- The address is different from the one on the document
- A blurry, cropped or screenshot document
- A website that does not show the business name or contact details
